Healthy Dips for Your Favorite Snacks

Easy and Healthy Dips to Make at Home

Snacks play a vital role to your diet, and though you’re eating small portions, it’s still the calorie content that counts. A light meal would be in vain if you constantly cheat during your snacks with all the sweets and processed food that you eat in between meals. It’s time to skip that, donut, cheese burger, and fries, and look for snacks that are light and healthy. A dip can turn your boring food into a delightful one, and it’s very easy to prepare. To make every snack better, you can try out these healthy and delicious dips to pair it with:

  1. Cheesy Pesto Dip

  • ½ cup basil leaves
  • ½ cup baby spinach
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup peanuts
  • 4 cubes feta cheese.

Put all the ingredients in a food processor and allow it be mixed finely. After mixing, you can top it off with feta cheese then place it in an oven and heat it up for at least 2 minutes. As simple as that, you now have your cheesy pesto dip. For snack idea, you can prepare a baguette and slice it thinly. Once you’re done slicing, just toast it in an oven toaster or a pan. You now have a perfect combo of a balanced snack and you can also use this for eggs or chicken. If you are on a diet, you can skip the feta cheese and it will still taste good as it is.

  1. Fresh Tomato Salsa

  • 5 tomatoes (seeded)
  • 1 whole red onion (chopped)
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 jalapeno (seeded)
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix all the ingredients in a blender. Once everything’s set, just cautiously turn on the pulse button and blend it slightly for a few seconds or until everything’s chopped. Make sure that you still have bits of the ingredients and don’t aim for a smooth finish. If you want to serve it hot, you can cook it a little in a pan and serve it over toasted tortilla wraps or some chips. You can keep this in the fridge; just make sure that you seal it well. After a few days, it will taste better.

  1. Creamy Garlic All-Purpose Dip

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose cream
  • ¼ cup non-fat milk
  • ¼ cup minced fresh chives
  • ¼ cup minced fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Ground pepper

Put everything in a mixing bowl and beat it with a mixer. Make sure that it is in high speed so you could achieve a smooth consistency. You can use this practically anywhere, but it is best with steamed vegetables like carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower. This can be your ultimate snack when you are on a strict diet. You can even use it as a dip for breast chicken strips or fish fillet. In this way, you will no longer have to cringe at the sight of steamed food.
